Inside LA’s New Private Golf Club

Los Angeles is about to welcome a new kind of private club. Opening in West Los Angeles in late 2026, Stableford is designed around a simple idea: golf no longer has to mean disappearing for four hours to play a traditional round. Instead, the new 13,000-square-foot clubhouse brings together golf, wellness, hospitality and social life in one carefully considered setting. Founded by Drake Walker and Sanjay Mattela, Stableford aims to create a modern alternative to the traditional country club, one designed around the pace and habits of contemporary Los Angeles life.

Instead, the new 13,000-square-foot clubhouse brings together golf, wellness, hospitality and social life in one carefully considered setting. Founded by Drake Walker and Sanjay Mattela, Stableford aims to create a modern alternative to the traditional country club, one designed around the pace and habits of contemporary Los Angeles life.

Golf, Reimagined

At the heart of Stableford is golf, but there is no traditional fairway here. Eight private TrackMan simulator lounges give members the opportunity to practise, play and receive instruction in an environment designed to feel closer to a private members’ club than a conventional simulator venue. A large PuttView-powered putting green adds another dimension, allowing members to work on their game or simply enjoy a casual session. Golf instruction will be led by Lucas Wald, a former touring professional and Golf Digest Best Young Teacher in America, bringing a serious performance element to the club alongside its more social offering.
Golf, Reimagined

Private wellness suites will offer Finnish saunas, cold plunges and large-format red-light therapy, alongside equipment for stretching, recovery and relaxation. The intention is to make wellness part of the same routine as golf rather than a separate destination. A member might arrive for an early practice session, move into a sauna or cold plunge, settle in with a coffee and continue working from the club or return later for dinner and drinks.

Designed by New York-based Mazzarini & Co., Stableford moves away from the familiar visual language of indoor golf, favouring a warmer, more residential approach built around rich materials, comfortable seating and a sense of privacy. The clubhouse will include an espresso and smoothie bar for mornings, an all-day food offering with dishes including sushi, poke bowls, grain bowls, wraps and sandwiches, and an evening cocktail programme. The result is intended to feel less like a place you visit for an hour of golf and more like a clubhouse where you can comfortably spend an entire day.

General Manager Corey Bross, formerly of Bel-Air Country Club, will help shape the level of hospitality and personal service expected from the club.

Rather than attempting to recreate the traditional country club, Stableford responds to the realities of urban life: limited time, an increasingly wellness-focused lifestyle and a desire for spaces where work, sport and socialising can coexist naturally.
